Why is Macbeth Important to the Tragic Story Line?
Macbeth is the most important character within the tragic story. William Shakespeare effectively uses Macbeth as both the protagonist and the antagonist as in the beginning Macbeth starts as a loyal person who is willing to fight for his king to an evil person who is willing to kill his king and disrupt the divine order which was believed to be put in place by God.

Within the story Macbeth gains the title of Thane of Cawdor first. This causes him to believe that what the witches predicted is true and that he must now strive to accomplish them.
