Macbeth's Thoughts, Actions, Behavior and Personality
Throughout the story, Macbeth displays many different thoughts and actions and various personalities depending on where he is and who he is with. Macbeth displays various good and bad thoughts, actions and behaviors throughout the story which all contribute to the overall perception of his character whether he is good or evil. Throughout the play Macbeth showed many good traits such as bravery or ambitiousness. These are generally seen as positive traits but within the story Macbeth displays how these traits can overcome the body and cause one to become evil or to do things which they would not do without the help of being brave or ambitious. Ambitiousness was used as throughout the story Macbeth was constantly ambitious when trying to gain the power of the throne of Scotland but as he knew of the witches predictions, Macbeth became over ambitious. This then lead to his downfall as he was so obsessed with gaining power he did not think of the repercussions of his actions when killing King Duncan.
One action which also came to be as a repercussion of Macbeth's ambitiousness was the murder and attempted murder of Banquo and Fleance, Banquo's son. To do this, Macbeth hired three murderers to kill both men and blame it on natural cuases such as a snake which was used for Banquo, but Fleance was not killed and he raised the alarm to all of the other lords that Macbeth was a murderer and that Macbeth wrongly gained the throne. This shows how Macbeth's thoughts contributed to his actions as he thought that Banquo was going to tell the other lords of Macbeth's wrongdoing and Macbeth would be either killed or stripped of his power. Overall this also shows Macbeth's personality as it shows that he is a person who lived in fear of being fund out and that he was a very cautious person in the ways which he attempted not to be prosecuted.
